Puebloans were big into astronomy, a skill probably imported from Mexico (along with corn and pottery). This petroglyph is possibly some form of a calendar. There were also Ute carvings on the rocks, identified by the presence of horses which were introduced in the 1500s. The Utes are transplants, they did not arrive in this location until 1880.
