Those are turkey vultures on the riverbank. We didn't see as much wildlife as I had expected, probably because both Cody and Ryan need to check their existence every few seconds. They do this by speaking. They ask questions like "Is that a tree?" and if I respond either verbally or with a scowl, they have apparently confirmed their place in the universe for a moment.
