Since I spoke of the keel in the last panel, I might as well discuss it here. Someone on the internet told me he sailed a 16 ft 'Viking style' boat as a kid, it had a 4 inch keel. So I decided to cut a 3.5 inch keel (width of a 2x4) from a 2x6. To do this, I needed to trace an outline of the shape of the hull onto the 2x6, and I did it with this nifty guide made from scrap.
