Ladies and gentlemen, I introduce the Sliding Gunter! My mast was 6 feet tall. My yard was 8 feet tall. I wanted to haul the sail up high enough the boom wouldn't whack me in the head. The mast is 1.5 inches in diameter, and PVC comes in 1.5in Inside Diameter sizes. I got a 2 foot section and secured it to the yard with zip ties.
