And it had flown way down the river where it was attracting a lot of attention from a heron and an osprey. I don't know if it saw something dead and flew down there to get it, or if the osprey had caught a fish and the eagle flew down and stole it from him. Personally, I think it was the latter - eagles are the symbol of America after all. (Native Americans think that joke is funny.)
