I should have done more testing - seeing how she sailed without a leeboard. Instead, I just rounded up into the wind (harder to do without the leeboard) and rowed on home. I do not like the 5ft oars - they are too short. I might have to try some 5 1/2ft oars or just go back to 6ft oars like the designer specified.
