Mike in Oops! had decided not to race, so we had 8 boats in the race and one flitting around the start area. Jack called '2 Minutes!' then '1 Minute!' and we all jostled about, Jack called '30 Seconds' and the guys got serious about launch strategy. Sometime after the 30 second call, I witnessed David Graybeal ram full on into Hal - so hard the corner of David's bow cracked the hull on Hal's boat. The crack was above the waterline, but the event was distracting. . . .
