One day of sailing done and things weren't going too bad. Sure, we had some breakage, but nothing that was going to stop us.

I had taken 2 sets of sails down for this event: a 90sqft one capable of being reefed to 60sqft and 40sqft, and a 60sqft one capable of being reefed to 40sqft. I sailed with the 60sqft one (left the larger sail on the car for sailing at Magnolia at the end.)

I had never reefed for real before (I practiced in prep for this event) and was pleasantly surprised when I reefed to 40sqft and my boat started moving at 6+mph instead for fighting me at 4+mph.

Less sail = more speed. Who knew?
