We camped at Ft. DeSoto State Park - Florida has outstanding state parks (better than Oregon, which makes me sad.) The raccoons were rapacious - turn your back for 5 minutes and they'd have your stuff. I had arrived a couple days early so we could get some practice in. The weather was so bad and so cold we decided not to go out. Yep, I was going to go on a 300-mile boat race in water I had never seen before in a new boat with a captain that had only sailed her for a few hours. It doesn't get much more adventure-y than that.
