It was a tough slog to CP1. We had problems with the swing bridge, so we had to drop our masts and sails and paddle underneath. We were still almost a mile and a half to the checkpoint, in the dark and at low tide. The path is very twisty and the water very shallow. I had to strip down to my skivvies and push us off the mud twice. I'd have quit that night if Mike had even mentioned that he was tired.
