March 5 was "inspection day" when all the boats were brought to the beach and checked out for safety and required equipment. This is Meade Gougeon, founder of West System epoxy. He showed up with his boat Yello Thing, some kind of a 20ft long board boat with a sliding seat and batwing sail. That's right, dude's a genuine legend in the boat building world, a visionary, and, as the oldest competitor in the event, has more courage in his little toe than me (that's for sure.)
