A little while after this, Dr. Nick, known as Pelican to the WaterTribe, came in. It's kind of odd, meeting both Dr. Nick and Duncan, as they were the two boats that rescued the guys who had capsized that first day. Duncan was in fine shape, but Dr. Nick had been plagued with equipment problems since he had damaged his rudder during the rescue. He borrowed my charts and plotted that middle passage. He decided to leave with us in the morning and follow us through the channels.
