Kevin sailed in and hauled his boat out, then Jon came in (we'd waved down Gordo in Laguna Uno so he could ship a passenger, too) and I explained my solution. Jon was very unhappy. He'd driven nearly 2300 miles to sail the entire event, but if both Jason and Kevin dropped out, he'd have to drop too. Corpus Christi Bay is no place for a Puddle Duck to sail alone.

I did some quick thinking and came up with an idea. My new solution was for Kevin to loan me his boat while he ships aboard Gordo's Laguna. Sean would take over my Laguna and sail with Tom (who was currently traveling with Gordo, but Gordo and Kevin were friends from last year, so I figured they ought to sail together. Got it? Good.)

Jason was adamant about dropping, but I'm not a fan of his lateen rig and didn't want to sail his boat. I needed Kevin's boat to pull this off, but it was already loaded on a trailer while Jason's was still in the water. This was going to take some talking.
