I love my boat, but I hate that damn swing keel. Actually, I hate that damn winch. It is in the way of the cockpit and is just a pain to use. I have considered removing it, replacing the weight with lead secured in the bilges and making a weighted plywood keel that I could raise and lower with a simple rope. I plan on owning this boat for a long time, so I still have the opportunity to experiment.
