This is the entrance to the longest (47 miles) and (historically) most dangerous of the three gorges. Xiling gorge, was made safe (safer at least) in the 1950's when they blew up all the interesting rocks. There was a place that had the "White Bone Pagoda," literally a mountain made from the bones of drowned river travelers. Now THAT would have been a picture.
