Hopis are descendants of the Ancient Puebloans, and have the best answer to the mystery of why Mesa Verde was deserted in the 13th century: Their religion told them it was time to move on. That makes sense to me. The Hopis live in three villages on a reservation inside the Navajo reservation. Their chaperone said the school has a 90% graduation rate (which is phenomenal) and encourages the kids to learn in the outside world, and then come home and help the Hopi nation. Good for them.
